Lesson 1

How Not to get the probe Stuck

One thing I've learned in my 30+ years of environmental and geotechnical drilling and probing, is, "Don't get the equipment stuck".  Our GeoprobeŽ 6610dt is unique is that it's rubber tracked, and light weight.  Isn't it every job you have cross some soft or wet area or some steep incline.  With the probe's weight spread over the rubber tacks, it's breeze to cross soft areas.  But, don't make any sudden or abrupt turns!  Planking can be used in extreme cases, but is generally not needed.  Steep inclines can be effectively navigated by using the probe's extend.  By extending the probe about the chassis the weight can be redistributed to better navigate the slope.
